Concept

We are all Cities constitutes a visual poem of the author, a transmedia artwork in progress (2024-today) which has taken multiple textual and spatial forms through poetic writing, digital media and installation.The poem and its visual and poetic processes are made of 21 words-cities ending in the prefix -cities, which intends to reflect on the complexities of the human condition through universal concepts, processes, conditions, patterns and contrasts mostly associated with bodies, cities, technologies and philosophies. Humans are cities / cities are humans under constant becoming. The idea of the city constitutes a dynamic phenomenon expressed through various synapses between human and non-human worlds across centuries. Cities are encompassing metaphors often understood through geological, organic and technological ideas. Drawing from media poetry and ‘performance writing’ approach which brings writing into a dynamic dialogue with media arts, performance art and space, We Are All Cities has been an artwork in progress; having performed (IFPA 2024, PS 2025) as performative narration accompanied by real time use of digital microscope, objects and sound.
