UNDER/MINING international exhibition (2022) / Η ΚΑΘΗΜΕΡΙΝΗ (Κύπρος)
Άρθρο στην ΚΑΘΗΜΕΡΙΝΗ - Η ιστορία, η μνήμη, αλλά και ο κοινωνικοπολιτισμικός και περιβαλλοντικός αντίκτυπος της μετάλλευσης στην Κύπρο αποτυπώνονται μέσα από μία σύγχρονη καλλιτεχνική προοπτική στη διεθνή ομαδική έκθεση Under|Mining Εκ|Μετάλλευση, η οποία θα φιλοξενηθεί μεταξύ 28 Οκτωβρίου και 20 Νοεμβρίου 2022 σε διάφορες τοποθεσίες της κοινότητας Καλαβασού, χωριού της επαρχίας Λάρνακας. Η έκθεση διοργανώνεται στο πλαίσιο του Προγράμματος Πολιτιστικής Αποκέντρωσης των Πολιτιστικών Υπηρεσιών του Υφυπουργείου Πολιτισμού της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, ενώ τα εγκαίνια θα τελέσει ο Υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού Γιάννης Τουμαζής την Παρασκευή 28 Οκτωβρίου στις 16:00.

Tundra poetry collection (2017)
> Short introduction
Tundra (Τούνδρα) is the first poetry collection of Bill Psarras, published by Pigi Publications (2017). In his poems - often in a visual/concrete form - Psarras considers city, geography, geology, meteorology and art as emerging platforms for a new intermedia imagination. The city is considered as an ocean of emotional, spiritual and geographical dynamics - in his Tundra the artist focuses on the material, the mundane, the everyday in search of a new vocabulary made of traffic lights, streets, asphalt, highways, grassy fissures, antennas, rooftops, tube, stations, zebra crossings, weather conditions. Psarras uses the architecture of the city to reveal an architecture of the soul. Such an inspiration is approached with a geological attentiveness through the eyes of a flaneur, a human defined by Baudelaire, Benjamin, Kazantzakis, Teo Angelopoulos and Dimitris Papaioannou.
> Why ‘Tundra'
In his first poetry book, the concept of Tundra was used as a performative metaphor with multiple readings - a new emotional ecosystem a place with future potential, a third metamodern terrain which brings together the romantic, the cynical, the eternal, the transient, the abandoned; a need to explore the spiritual. For Psarras, Tundra forms an output of his method to see people, cities, emotions and spaces as stratified layers of memories, experiences and weaknesses. Tundra is poetic and political; a growing (fragile) seed in the frictions of past and future.

Bill Psarras music can be seen as a mix of guitar instrumental, progressive rock, post-metal, art-rock, ambient music; widely influenced by the rock and atmospheric sounds of 80’s - 90’s and great guitarists in rock and blues genres. He started playing the guitar at the age of 7, attended classic guitar lessons for 11 years, and later he set up a few bands writing also his solo material. Between 2006-2013 he self-released under his name a number of digital albums such as “Feeding My Desire” (2010) which was recorded at Scythenoise Studios (Chris Ntaskas, Greece), mastered by Peter Doell at Universal Mastering studios in Los Angeles (US) and designed by Achilleas Gatsopoulos (Hypnagogia) in Berlin. Many of them have been internationally distributed in web radio shows (USA, Australia), music databases and forums. Since 2018, he set up his new band Engineers of Imagination, at the intersections of art rock, progressive rock and ambient. His music often deals with the <mono no aware> (the pathos of the transient things").

Ludmilla My Side is the ambient/film music alias of Bill Psarras, formed in Greece in 2006. The music of LMS is synonymous to ephemeral, spatial and sensory qualities; focusing on the here and now to reveal universalities. LMS music is about human, romanticism, cities and liminal feelings. LMS draws to the minimal, poetic styles of Brian Eno, Stars of the Lid, Harold Budd, Steven Wilson, Bass Communion among others. LMS has self-released a series of demos and later digital albums across ambient/soundtrack genre as well as composed music for documentaries (Primarolia, 2019, 73’). Since 2006, LMS has moved from ambient/electronica pieces in early demos to more ambient, drone, soundtrack compositions as in the cases of Music for 8 Locations (2013), Music for Revolutions (2015), Expanded Light (2020, EP) and forthcoming Clever North (2020), which is a turning point on the artist’s compositional approach.
